Comfort Inn Halifax sold by CBRE
CBRE was retained as exclusive advisor and agent to GPC Investment Limited in its sale of the 63-room Comfort Inn Halifax. The hotel has excellent visibility and access from Bedford Highway, and also enjoys unobstructed waterfront views from across this two-lane highway. The property had been recently renovated and was in extremely good condition, with 63 guest rooms, a breakfast room, meeting space and recreational amenities. It was being offered unencumbered by any management agreement upon a sale.

Dual brand Marriotts open in Dartmouth
Dartmouth, N.S. — The new 196-room dual-branded Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott hotel in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia is now open. Located at 35 Shubie Drive, the hotels are owned in a partnership between Southwest Properties, JLK Global Fund International (JLK) and New Castle Hotels & Resorts, and operated by New Castle Hotels & Resorts of Shelton, Connecticut. The property will celebrate a grand opening event on Thursday, August 1, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
The hotel includes an indoor pool with 151-foot waterslide and jacuzzi, fitness center, an outdoor patio with fire pit, an electric car charging station and 2,237 square feet of meeting space accommodating up to 120 people.

Hotel Equities breaks ground on Fairfield Kitimat
ATLANTA — Hotel Equities and Horizon North Logistics Inc. (Horizon North) have broken ground on a fully-modular Fairfield by Marriott in Kitimat, B.C. The 120-room hotel is phase II of an entirely modular-built, mixed-use community development by owners, Horizon North. Hotel Equities has been selected as the managing partner to operate the new hotel. The anticipated opening date is the first quarter of 2020.
With valley views and a mountain backdrop, the Fairfield by Marriott Kitimat is situated along the city’s major entrance and in close proximity to industrial development in the Kitimat region. The approx. 55,000 square foot hotel will feature flexible meeting space, state-of-the-art fitness center, a lounge with food service, and spacious guestrooms and suites with separate spaces for work and rest.

Holiday Inn Mississauga revamps and opens

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Fort Mac cuts the ribbon
FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — Marriott International’s TownePlace Suites by Marriott Fort McMurray hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 25. The new hotel located at 321 Sakitawaw Trail, which opened on April 8, operates as a Marriott franchise, owned by Mikisew Cree First Nation, Royop Hospitality Corporation and Calgary-based MasterBUILT Hotels, who also manage the hotel.
