The new Canadian hotels include one conversion project and two new-builds. All three properties are scheduled to open between late 2026 and 2027.

“The voco hotels brand has emerged as a remarkable success within the IHG premium portfolio, as both owners and guests are drawn to its distinctive properties that seamlessly blend the individualism of each location with the reassurance of a brand they trust,” says Scott Duff, vice-president of development, Canada, for IHG Hotels & Resorts. “We are thrilled to add another country to voco’s growing list of destinations, welcoming Canadian travellers to these new properties in Montreal, Niagara Falls and Toronto Airport West.”

Project details

voco Niagara Falls – Fallsview is a conversion of an existing hotel located in the city’s Fallsview tourist district. Slated to open in late 2026, the property will offer 232 guest rooms across two connected towers. Plans include an upgraded lobby with a coffee shop, a new on-site restaurant, an indoor pool and a fitness centre.

voco Montreal, a downtown new-build, is set to open in mid-2027. The 55-room property will be located near the Montreal Convention Centre, Université de Montréal Health Centre and Old Montreal. It will feature a full-service restaurant and a lobby lounge concept tailored to business and leisure travellers.

voco Toronto Airport West will be a newly constructed 180-room hotel near Toronto Pearson International Airport. The property will include a restaurant and bar, a fitness facility and 3,500 square feet of meeting space. Targeting a 2027 opening, the hotel aims to be Canada’s first zero-emissions, carbon-neutral hotel and the first in the country to join IHG’s Low Carbon Pioneers Program.

Flexible growth strategy

Originally launched in 2018, voco has reportedly expanded by leveraging a conversion-friendly model and a design ethos that balances individuality with brand consistency. The brand’s operating model is structured to allow owners flexibility in retaining unique architectural or cultural elements while aligning with IHG’s service and sustainability standards.

Globally, voco signed 45 new properties in 2024 and entered new markets including India and Sweden. As of mid-2025, the brand has reached 100 open hotels and an additional 95 properties in the pipeline. Other recent openings include voco Saranac Lake in New York, voco Moab in Utah, and voco Royalty Puebla Downtown in Mexico.

IHG’s voco expansion into Canada adds a new player to the country’s premium hotel landscape and reflects growing interest in flexible upscale brands among owners and developers.
