Truman and Marriott to bring three high‑profile hotel brands to Calgary

SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts has appointed Edward Chang as its vice president, investment & real estate.

Chang is also founder & president of Abbey Hotel Advisors, London, U.K. — where he has worked for nearly five years. Chang’s previous role was managing director, real estate at American Hotel Income Properties REIT.
Before that, he worked at Sonder Inc., SilverBirch Hotels & Resorts, Goldman Sachs Realty Management Division, Cornell University, Archon Hospitality, International Finance Centre Management Co. Ltd., Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong and Holiday Inn Vancouver-Centre.
In his new role, Chang will spearhead the planning and execution of SilverBirch’s investment strategy, collaborating with the team on investment analysis and underwriting, portfolio planning, and sourcing market intelligence to support its strategic initiatives.
From 2014 to 2018, Chang was a key member of the SilverBirch team, holding the roles of director, investment & real estate and director, asset management. “We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Chang back to SilverBirch,” says Jiri Rumlena, president, SilverBirch. “His extensive background and dedication to excellence in the hospitality industry will be instrumental to our organization and the next phase of our growth.
