CALGARY — David Spero is the new executive chef at the Calgary Marriott Downtown, responsible for all of the property's food and beverage operations including: catering for the newly expanded meeting space; ONE18 EMPIRE and the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre. In his new role, Spero will provide direction for the Calgary Marriott Downtown culinary team, with a focus on inspiring and delighting guests with signature dishes and beverage offerings.
Throughout his career, chef Spero has held key roles in the culinary and hospitality industries and has worked award-winning establishments including: The Peaks Resort and Spa, Telluride, Colo.; The Grand Wailea Resort and Spa, Maui, Hawaii; The Ritz-Carlton, Naples, Fla.; and Portofino Bay Hotel, Orlando, Fla. Most recently, he was executive sous chef at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes, Orlando, Fla.
Chef Spero grew up in New Jersey and started his career in the culinary arts working in local restaurants along the famed Jersey Shore beginning at age 16. He attended the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Arizona.
