At Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton, a 2024 refresh encompassed guest rooms and meeting spaces with a focus on preserving original features. The project included restoration of ballroom ceilings, work that required more than 1,000 hours of hand painting, bespoke artwork derived from century-old photographs, and the retention of emblem door handles dating to the hotel’s 1915 opening.
In Banff, Fairmont Banff Springs introduced a redesigned Gatehouse Suite aimed at families and multigenerational travel. The suite’s transformation was set to be unveiled in June 2025.

The Canadian upgrades sit alongside recent and upcoming projects abroad. Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland completed the restoration of 120 lake-view rooms and its main façade in April 2025. Fairmont Orchid on Hawaii Island finished a multimillion-dollar refresh in June 2025, covering 540 rooms and suites, its private Gold Floor, and meeting and event spaces with design cues drawn from the island’s landscape and craft traditions. In Bermuda, Hamilton Princess & Beach Club debuted renovations to the Bermudiana Wing in May 2025 with one-bedroom suites that can convert to two-bedroom configurations; the hotel is Green Key certified.
The Savoy in London unveiled new room and suite designs in June, led by G.A. Group. Looking ahead, Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva is undergoing a major transformation set to debut in 2026, including a redone façade with added loggias on lake-facing rooms and a full interior renovation. Also due in 2026, Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda is in the midst of a $550-million redevelopment of its 593 rooms, beach club, lobby, restaurants and meeting spaces. In the United States, Fairmont Grand Del Mar in San Diego has reimagined its spa with new treatment rooms, a sound therapy room, an upgraded dressing lounge and new wellness technology.
