Chelsea Hotel, Toronto names Shane Downey as managing director
The Chelsea Hotel, Toronto has appointed Shane Downey as managing director. Downey brings a wealth of experience in large hotel operations as well as a very broad experience having worked in 5-star luxury, select-service and extended stay hotels.
His hospitality career spans 20+ years where he has worked in Europe, the Middle East, the U.S. and Canada with Marriott, Hilton and some independent hotels. Downey has successfully led the opening, rebranding and reconceptualization of many properties, and managing multiple capital projects exceeding millions of dollars. He is originally from Ireland where he earned his B.B.S in International Hotel Management at Shannon College of Hotel Management.
Downey is no stranger to the city of Toronto and joins the Chelsea Hotel from his most recent position as general manager for the Delta Hotel, Toronto, Delta’s Global Flagship Brand Hotel. Before that, he was hotel manager at the Sheraton Centre, Toronto
