The openings mark the culmination of a multi‑year transformation of the property, which the locally owned hospitality company acquired in 2005. Banff Caribou Properties says the project reflects its commitment to high‑quality guest experiences and the continued evolution of its mountain hospitality portfolio.

Distinct offerings for different travellers

Hotel Canoe & Suites is positioned for adventure‑oriented guests looking for a modern and vibrant atmosphere near trails and outdoor activities. The Otter Hotel, meanwhile, offers a refined, quiet experience tailored to mature travellers seeking mountain luxury and comfort.

Both properties feature rooftop wellness spaces, including hot pools, saunas and lounge areas with panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies. The Uptown location provides easy access to shopping, local attractions and nearby hiking trails, while offering a more tranquil setting than Banff’s busy downtown core.

In‑house dining concepts

Banff Caribou Properties has also introduced two new signature dining experiences.

  • Sudden Sally, in Hotel Canoe & Suites, offers elevated comfort food in a lively atmosphere, with a dedicated pastry kitchen producing house‑made baked goods for a grab‑and‑go counter alongside artisan coffee.
  • Good Folk, at The Otter Hotel, provides an intimate and sophisticated dining experience with menus built around fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

Both restaurants feature summer‑inspired menus and outdoor seating with mountain views.

To bring the dining concepts to life, Banff Caribou Properties collaborated with Calgary restaurateurs Dwayne and Alberta Ennest, who are recognized for their creative approach to hospitality and influence on Alberta’s dining scene.

Strategic growth in Banff

The two hotels add to Banff Caribou Properties’ portfolio of local accommodations and dining venues, which aim to offer travellers a range of experiences in Canada’s premier mountain destination. The company says both properties are now open and actively welcoming guests.
