The School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management, University of Guelph appoints Mark Holmes as director

The School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management, University of Guelph has appointed Mark Holmes as director.

Holmes received his PhD in Environmental Studies (testing the implications of an integrated rural tourism framework for the Niagara wine region) from York University in 2014. His areas of specialization are sustainable tourism, sustainable food service, restaurants and sustainable workplaces.

He also held roles as associate professor and assistant professor at the school. Before that, he worked at Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph, George Brown College, York University, several roles at Ryerson University, Royal Roads University and Wendy’s

Mark stepped in as HFTM interim director, from January 1st to December 31st, 2023, and has made progress on a number of strategic fronts. We are delighted that Mark has agreed to serve as our School’s ninth director, providing critical continuity in this important role,” says the school of hospitality team.
