TORONTO – April 29, 2019 – Inspired by the glamour and flair of the entertainment district, the beauty of Toronto’s waterfront, and the city’s deep history of rail travel, The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto enters a new era with a dynamic and luxurious design direction.
Led by award-winning global interior design firm DesignAgency, the Forbes Five-Star awarded hotel now boasts newly reimagined guest rooms and suites, among the largest in the city, on the hotel’s Club Level floors. The 20th floor Club Lounge, an exclusive private lounge with picturesque views of the CN Tower and Lake Ontario, also debuts a newly enhanced look and feel.

“The Ritz-Carlton name signifies luxury in every sense: from the best location and service, to an environment of the upmost quality” said Allen Chan, founding partner of DesignAgency. “We were inspired to unite these hallmarks with visions of modern hospitality to give visitors a place of timeless elegance.”

The hotel’s general manager, Franck Arnold, said of the reimagination: “This new design direction is a celebration of the history and the spirit of Toronto. Our world-class, dynamic city is a very special place within The Ritz-Carlton portfolio, and we are proud to unveil something truly spectacular for our guests.”

Guest Rooms
Stately elements pay homage to the history of the hotel’s physical location, near the site of the first Ontario (Upper Canada) Parliament buildings. Luggage detailing and bold, straight design lines take inspiration from the rail system, the pillar of early Canadian travel.

“We are the only hotel in the luxury set that has a lake view,” noted Elie Sassine, director of sales and marketing, on a tour of the hotel. The hotel is located close to Front Street, which used to be the waterfront. That water theme carries throughout the hotel — including the carpets in the hallways.

The rail theme can also be seen throughout the hotel. “There are elements of luggage detailing — on parts of the bed, in the landings, the rooms and the Club Lounge — that are reminiscent of the steamer trunks guests used to carry,” said Mimi Auyeung, public relations and marketing manager.

Glamorous finishings and cinematic portraits shot by Canadian photographer and director Caitlin Cronenberg add a nod to the hotel’s deep connection to The Toronto International Film Festival.
