James Robar, Chef Concierge at The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax, has been inducted into Les Clefs d’Or, the international association of professional hotel concierges. He is currently the only member of Les Clefs d’Or in Atlantic Canada.
Robar brings over 31 years of hospitality experience to his role. He was part of the opening team at The Sutton Place Hotel Halifax in 2020, marking a return to his home province after several years in Toronto. He was also a founding member of Les Clefs d’Or Canada’s Atlantic Region in 2009.
Les Clefs d’Or, founded in France in 1952, is a global network of approximately 4,000 hotel concierges in over 80 countries. Members are recognized by the crossed golden keys on their lapels, symbolizing a commitment to exceptional service and professionalism.
In his role, Robar assists guests with services such as dinner and tour reservations, event suggestions, and transportation arrangements. He emphasizes the importance of being a local expert and guiding guests to experiences that create lasting memories.
Robar’s induction into Les Clefs d’Or highlights his dedication to excellence in hospitality and his significant contributions to the concierge profession in Atlantic Canada.
