HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. — STR statistics for Canada for March and April show the magnitude of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the month of March, Canadian hotel occupancy was at 31.5 per cent, down 47.6 per cent from the same month in 2019. In April, it fell to 14.1 per cent, down a disastrous 77.3 per cent from April 2019.
Average daily rate in March 2020 was C$140.53, down 5.4 per cent from the previous year. In April 2020, that number had dropped to C$101.55, down 33. 2 per cent from April 2019.
Not surprisingly, RevPAR showed the most dramatic decrease, dropping to C$44.30 in March 2020 compared to the same month in 2019. In April 2020, RevPAR was down to C$14.36, a decline of 84.8 per cent from the year before.
