Statia Elliot has announced a sabbatical term from her position as director of the School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management.
Elliot has been working with the University of Guelph for close to 16 years as a professor, interim associate dean, director, associate professor, and assistant professor. An influential figure in the hospitality industry, Elliot has acted as chair of the board of directors at the Ontario Tourism Education Corporation for close to three years. Prior to this, Elliot was a board member of the Travel and Tourism Research Association. Before this, she worked at Travel Manitoba.
Said Elliot of her decision: “I’ve come to the end of my terms as Director of the School of Hospitality, Food & Tourism Management, an honour and a privilege. I’m thankful to all the wonderful industry, alumni, faculty and students who are part of this amazing School’s family. Together we launched the Hospitality Leadership Certificate, celebrated the 50th anniversary, built the Anita Stewart Memorial Food Lab, and more. The last year was a battle to bring back HTM — happy to say it’s back, and I can pass the reins. I’m now on sabbatical, continuing to support our sector through research and advocacy. Hope to see you at the next event!”
