EDMONTON — The DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton and Home2 Suites by Hilton West Edmonton 3 have been recognized with multiple industry awards, it was announced May 3.
The DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton was presented with the Housekeeping Award and the Employer of Choice Award by the Alberta Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and received the Hospitality Safety Leadership Certificate – Level 4 from the Alberta Hospitality Safety Association (AHSA).
Recipients of the AHLA’s Housekeeping Award are selected based on a number of criteria, which may include unannounced inspections, social media and a detailed breakdown of TrustScores, while the Employer of Choice Award recognizes excellence in HR practices. The AHSA’s Hospitality Safety Leadership Certificate recognizes hotels’ commitment to building and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. The Level 4 certification is the highest available, putting the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton among a total of only 19 properties in Alberta to have received this endorsement.
Meanwhile, Donica Wilkie Morrow, general manager of Home2 Suites by Hilton West Edmonton, was presented with the AHLA’s Gold Key award, which recognizes the contribution of employees who exemplify the attitude and dedication needed to serve guests and promote Alberta’s tourism industry.
“I am very proud that the hard work of our colleagues in Edmonton has been recognized with these prestigious industry awards,” said Steve Giblin, president and CEO of SilverBirch Hotels Resorts, in a release. “We are committed to constantly improving both the guest experience and creating the best possible workplace in all our hotels, and these awards reflect these efforts. I would like to congratulate everybody who works so tirelessly at our hotels for their achievements in winning these awards and thank them for their contribution to SilverBirch’s continued success.”
