Ruby Dhalla attends coronation of the 17th King of Malaysia
Ruby Dhalla of the Dhalla Group attended the coronation of the 17th King of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim. The event was held on July 20, 2024, at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
As an international figure and Canadian member of parliament, Dhalla says she was humbled to be the only Canadian attending this historic occasion, which signifies the enduring friendship between the families and the cultural ties between Canada and Malaysia.
“This invitation is a tremendous honor, and both my mother and I are humbled to be the guest of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim & Her Majesty at their coronation,” says Dhalla. “This invitation is a testament to our years of friendship and also marks a significant milestone for Malaysia as it welcomes its new King and Queen.”
The coronation was attended by royal families, the prime minister of Malaysia, elected officials, dignitaries, world leaders, and guests from around the world.
The June 20, 2024 ceremony included traditional rituals and cultural performances that reflect Malaysia’s rich heritage.
