Lombard Hospitality Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of James Richardson & Sons, Limited, announced that it has acquired the Fairmont Winnipeg hotel, Winnipeg, Man.
Originally developed and owned by a subsidiary of JRSL until it was sold in 2000, the hotel will, once again, form a part of JRSL’s Richardson Centre at the historic intersection of Portage & Main in Winnipeg.
The hotel features 340 guest rooms and suites — with large windows in all the rooms that provide guests with views of the historic Exchange District, the famous corner of Portage and Main or the intersection of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers, now known as The Forks National Park.
The hotel will continue to operate under the Fairmont brand and all employees have been offered continued employment with the hotel.
“The Fairmont has long been regarded as Winnipeg’s premier hotel, primarily because of its exceptional team who provide the highest standard of service and hospitality to the hotel’s guests and visitors. We intend to invest further in this property to ensure that it, and the downtown as a whole, continue to be the destination of choice for visitors to Winnipeg and for event planners in our city,” says Don Solman, chairman of Lombard Hospitality.
