Introducing a Miami‑inspired motel that’s making waves in Southampton, Ont.
Beginning in Spring 2025, beachgoers in Ontario’s picturesque Southampton will have a new destination to explore: South Beach Motel.
South Beach Motel owners Dane and Samantha Buttenaar
The newly renovated 12-suite motel is the sister establishment of Southampton’s The Beach Motel, with an added emphasis on spacious rooms, private kitchenettes, longer stays, and a games courtyard. Located just down the street from the original motel, South Beach is a Miami-inspired time warp, steeped in nostalgia while offering all the conveniences of a modern-day getaway.
“South Beach is unlike anything else in the area,” says co-owner Dane Buttenaar. “It takes everything guests love about The Beach Motel — the location, the elevated touches and custom design, the escapism — and combines it with larger rooms and more family-focused stays. Add to that a totally retro design, and you get South Beach: a little slice of Miami Vice right here in Southwestern Ontario!”
Miami-inspired retro design
To help breathe life into the motel, owners Dane and Samantha Buttenaar recruited the services of Toronto-based interior design firm, Twenty-Two Twelve (the team behind Hotel Julie, which was featured in CTV’s STAYING INN: HOTEL JULIE).
The vibrant and spacious suites all come equipped with private kitchenettes, perfect for families or large parties. Guests can also enjoy the effortlessly cool patio and well-outfitted games courtyard, complete with ping pong tables, bocce ball, corn hole, sand pit, sauna, outdoor shower, fire pits, and BBQ and bar. And, of course, the pièce de résistance: stunning Southampton sunsets from the sandy Lake Huron shores; just a five-minute walk away!
The Suites of South Beach
South Beach offers 12 suites in total, with four different room types — bachelor suites, family suites, honeymoon suites, and double suites.
Guests of South Beach can also access the amenities at The Beach Motel, including booking a relaxing massage in the spa, enjoying a drink by the rooftop fireplace, or sitting down for a delicious tapas-style dinner at Sandbar Restaurant.
