IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Vision 2045—the campaign launched by The United Nations (UN.)
The campaign will release a documentary series that focuses on how the private sector is working to deliver the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. IHG Hotels partnered with Vision 2045 to showcase the collaboration required between IHG, guests, colleagues, owners, NGOs and community organizations to help achieve its sustainability ambitions.
The documentary “Making a Difference: Driving Sustainable Change at Scale” premiered on Reuters.com—and discusses how travel and hospitality can be a force for good. Vision 2045 is an initiative celebrating the upcoming 100-year anniversary of the UN and almost 50 years of the U.N. Global Compact. This campaign aims to lead and inspire organizations worldwide to actively participate in creating a fairer, more sustainable society.
The article authored by IHG which accompanies the documentary offers insights into its sustainability initiatives including the Journey to Tomorrow Responsible Business plan, the importance of collaboration and its commitment to providing sustainable choices for travellers—while supporting local economies and communities.
Responsible for one in 10 jobs and contributing more than $7.7 trillion to the world’s GDP, the travel and hospitality industry supports economies across the globe by helping local communities to thrive. And it’s growing, with more than one billion international travellers last year and even more forecast to follow.
“With more than 6,300 hotels across the globe, we value our opportunity to positively impact the lives of millions every day, supporting local economies, helping build prosperity and acting as a force for good in those communities. All while understanding the heightened expectations of our hotel owners, guests, colleagues and investors when it comes to the relationship between business and the ESG agenda,” says IHG team.
