Hilton has crossed a major milestone in its Canadian growth strategy, surpassing 200 open hotels across the country. The achievement reflects a decade of rapid development across focused-service, extended-stay and lifestyle brands, with momentum expected to continue as more than 100 new properties remain in the pipeline.
Recent additions include Hôtel Vallea Bromont, part of the Tapestry Collection by Hilton; Home2 Suites by Hilton Woodstock, Ont.; and Spark by Hilton Toronto Mississauga.

Doubling presence in a decade
Hilton’s Canadian footprint has nearly doubled over the past 10 years. Focused-service hotels have driven much of the expansion, accounting for about half of the overall growth. Nearly 50 properties have been added across Hampton by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn, Tru by Hilton and the newly launched Spark by Hilton, which entered the Canadian market in 2024 with Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham.
Extended-stay demand has also supported Hilton’s trajectory. The company has doubled its Canadian presence in this category through Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2 Suites by Hilton, catering to business and leisure travellers seeking longer stays.
Lifestyle segment gains strength
Hilton has sharpened its focus on lifestyle properties in key urban and leisure destinations. The Tapestry Collection expanded this year with Hôtel Vallea Bromont, Hotel RailwayParc Montreal and The Brock Niagara Falls Fallsview. These join Revery Toronto Downtown, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, which opened in 2024, and Canopy by Hilton Toronto Yorkville, which debuted in 2023 as the brand’s first Canadian property.
More than 100 hotels in the pipeline
Looking ahead, Hilton is accelerating its development pace with more than 100 properties in the Canadian pipeline. The group is preparing to debut new brands in the market, including the first Motto by Hilton in Montreal in 2028 and the first Tempo by Hilton in Toronto in 2029.
Over the next 12 months, more than 20 additional properties are expected to open, including DoubleTree by Hilton North Vancouver, Hampton Inn by Hilton Calgary Downtown, Homewood Suites by Hilton Surrey, Home2 Suites by Hilton Vaughan Toronto and Tru by Hilton Milton. New Spark by Hilton hotels are also planned in Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.
Strategy for sustained growth
Matt Wehling, senior vice-president of development for Hilton in the U.S. and Canada, credits the company’s in-market expertise and strong partnerships with owners for sustaining its Canadian expansion. “Surpassing 200 open hotels in Canada is a powerful testament to our momentum in the market,” he says. “This success is fueled by the strong relationships we’ve built with our owners, supported by our regional, in-market expertise that reinforces our long-term development strategy and drives operational excellence at every stage.”
With a balanced brand mix, a robust pipeline and growing demand in both established and emerging markets, Hilton says it is positioning itself for long-term growth in Canada’s hospitality sector.
