The Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) has promoted Elizabeth Smith to director of communications. Smith has worked with HAC for close to five years; her most recent role was manager of communications. 
Since joining HAC, Smith has transformed the Association’s profile, with a new brand, strong engagement tools and digital presence. Her work has been key to the success of high-profile advocacy files, including COVID relief for the tourism sector through the Coalition of Hardest Hit Businesses, and #FairRules for the short-term rental industry.
In her new role, she will lead the organization’s strategic communications to ensure the industry is represented with a strong and engaged voice on critical files including COVID relief programs, travel restrictions, labour and short-term rentals.
