Opal Hospitality has expanded into the U.S. market with acquisition of Four Points by Sheraton Charlotte-Lake Norman, Huntersville, N.C.
CREECO has announced its plan to create a significant expansion at the Quality Inn & Suites Val-d’Or, in the community of Val-d’Or, Que.
The company announced its hotel investment announcement at the annual conference of the Secretariat to the Cree Nation Abitibi-Témiscamingue Economic Alliance: Forging the Path Forward.
The expansion project, slated to begin in summer 2024, will consist of the addition of 42 new guest rooms, including multiple extended stay suites with closed bedrooms and fully equipped kitchens. In addition, the property will add 1,200 square feet of conference rooms, a larger guest laundry room and fitness room. The expansion will also include a common area where guests can relax and interact. A new rooftop terrace will offer views of the boreal skyline.
Over the next 18 months, CREECO will invest over $10-million into its award-winning Quality Inn & Suites property on Rue de l’Escale. “Today’s announcement marks the beginning of a significant investment in what will become the largest hotel property in the region,” says Derrick Neeposh, president, CREECO. “This is part of our ongoing commitment to provide value through development and self-sufficiency of the Cree Nation, while maintaining long-term-profitability.”
The renovation of the property will commence in early 2024 with the modernization of the interior. Guest rooms will be refreshed by replacing wall coverings, floor coverings and various equipment and accessories. The Indigenous influence will bring nature into its design with a view to sustainable development. The main entrance, meeting rooms and breakfast room will also be refreshed with new finishes and decorative elements.
Quality Inn & Suites Val-d’Or currently has 82 luxurious rooms and suites and is a top-rated and highly-awarded hotel in the region. Since opening in 2011, the hotel has earned numerous awards, including annual Guest Hospitality Awards, which are given to the top 3 per cent of Choice Hotels in Canada. It has also won the top honour of Canadian Hotel of the Year and International Hotel of theYear twice.
