Choice Hotels Canada has named Declan Murphy as its new director of franchise development for Western Canada.
In his role, Murphy will oversee the growth and support of the company’s franchise network across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. He joins the company with a background in commercial real estate, banking and hotel management.
“His vast experience in commercial real estate, banking and hotel management will greatly benefit our franchise network and the strength of our system,” says Graham Marsh, national director of franchise development, Choice Hotels Canada. “He has a proven track record of success and will play a key role in supporting our growth in the western markets.”
Based in Calgary, Murphy most recently served as director of partnership growth at IWG plc, a flexible workspace provider. He spent nine years with the company, including time as area manager for Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Murphy has also held positions with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and the Royal Bank of Canada, focusing on account management. His areas of expertise include sales, customer relationship management, team building and sales training.
Choice Hotels Canada’s portfolio includes eight brands operating across the country.
